The “Grow The Gold Heritage Wheat Project” is a joint effort of The Heritage Grains Foundation and The Garden Institute of BC.
The project aims to preserve heritage varieties of wheat through: local field trials of heritage grains; education programs; marketing programs and community seed bank development to conserve heritage varieties, all of which are costly endeavours.
Some of the monies needed will be acquired through fund raising campaigns, such as the “Grow The Gold” Campaign, allowing donors to participate at 4 different levels.
At each level, the donor will receive a gift, proportionate to that level, of foundation heritage wheat seed, a certificate of origin and some heritage wheat related material, as well as a tax receipt.
At the $25 level, the donor will receive a 50 g packet of seed, a certificate of authenticity and a greeting card with a heritage wheat motif.
At the $50 level, either a seed packet and a copy of Demeter’s Wheat, or 2 seed packets and a greeting card.
At the $75 level, 3 seed packets and a copy of Demeter’s Wheat.
At the $100 level, 4 seed packets, a copy of Demeter’s Wheat and a greeting card.
